Driscoll Condemns Racist Graffiti
BOSTON, Mar. 20 - Representative Driscoll today condemned the Swastika graffiti recently found in bathrooms at Pierce Middle School. Last week’s incident was the second time in three months that Nazi symbols were found scrawled on the walls of the school’s bathroom. The graffiti also follows the vandalism of a Holocaust memorial in Milton cemetery, which occurred in September.
“The symbols found in Pierce Middle School bathrooms this week are utterly disgraceful,” Representative Driscoll said. The lawmaker for the 7th Norfolk District emphasized that Milton is a town of religious tolerance, and stated his belief that the community will always fight to ensure this remains the case. Driscoll noted, “People of all faiths and backgrounds are welcome in this town, and Jewish people have made a valuable contribution to the Milton community.”
Representative Driscoll had previously condemned the vandalism of the Holocaust memorial, and expressed regret that these incidents seemed to be becoming a pattern. “Anti-Semitism is a particularly vile form of racism, and it certainly has no place in our country, let alone in our schools.”
The Superintendent is currently cooperating with local police to investigate the issue. A full investigation is set to be launched by school officials in order to identify the perpetrators, as well as taking measures to ensure that such incidents do not occur again.
