Representative Driscoll Statement Regarding President Trump's Recent Comments

BOSTON, JAN. 12 - "President Trump should publicly apologize for his disgraceful comments regarding Haiti, El Salvador and African nations. His words were offensive and an affront to American values. He continues to degrade the Office of the President and diminish the United States’ standing in the global community.” - US Representative, Stephen F. Lynch

I agree with the above statement from Congressman Lynch. That President Trump’s derogatory comments were made both on the anniversary of the devastating 2010 earthquake in Haiti, and, as we approach the weekend honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy, is breathtaking.

This latest contemptible statement comes days after the announcement that temporary protected status (TPS) will be ended for yet another group of people seeking security and contributing to our United States. The President is routinely speaking words and taking actions that are contrary to what this great country stands for.

The President's comments yesterday crossed a new line for many. I hope that they will reflect not only on these recent remarks but also on his growing record of actions and statements that are taking our great nation off course.
