Driscoll Response to Proposed PRHC Closure
JANUARY 30, 2025
Please see Senator Driscoll’s statement in response to the potential closure of the Pappas Rehabilitation Hospital for Children in Canton:
“I was surprised and disappointed to learn of the Administration's recent announcement that they plan to close Pappas Rehabilitation Hospital for Children. At this point I have not seen a compelling reason to close this facility - quite the opposite from the stories and advocacy emerging from the many emails and calls my office is receiving. The facility is located in Canton, serving families in my Senatorial district and is a cherished workplace for many more as well. Pappas Rehabilitation Hospital for Children is a unique healthcare asset and I wish this conversation were centered around MORE investment, and not a proposed outright closure.
I will continue to work with the legislative delegation that represents the districts where Pappas is located and my other colleagues with constituents throughout the region that have ties to the Pappas community. I join the chorus of officials, advocates, affected families, and dedicated members of the workforce in urging a pivot away from closure.”
