Rep. Driscoll joins Milton Select Board and others in sending letter to FAA
November 25, 2020
Last week State Representative Bill Driscoll Jr. joined the Milton Select Board and others in submitting comments to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regarding the Environmental Assessment (EA) for a Runway 4-Left at Boston Logan International Airport. Earlier in the process Rep. Driscoll asked the FAA for clarifications for the proposed new approach but did not receive answers. Ultimately the FAA’s proposed 4L RNAV procedure will result in more planes and pollution over Milton, and Rep. Driscoll, joined by the Town Select Board, Congressman Stephen Lynch, State Senator Walter Timility, and Boston City Councilors Andrea Campbell and Ricardo Arroyo, requested that the EA process be cancelled and the Draft EA withdrawn.
Enclosed in their letter, the delegation specifies the reasons for their request which include, but are not limited to, the FAA’s lack of transparency, its failure to “identify, examine and pursue any available alternatives (other than the “No Action” alternative),” and its failure to “assess and present Environmental Justice impacts and alternatives.”
