Milton and Randolph Awarded Firefighter Safety Equipment Grant
FEBRUARY 7, 2024
Both Milton and Randolph were awarded a Firefighter Safety Equipment Grant for fiscal year 2024, as a part of the $5 million allocation to Massachusetts fire departments recently announced by the Healey-Driscoll Administration.
Now in its fourth year provided by a five-year bond bill, the grant program allows Massachusetts fire departments to apply for reimbursement of purchases made to acquire eligible safety equipment.
Milton was awarded $11,952.08 and Randolph, $25,000.00 to reimburse for purchases of equipment such as hoses and nozzles, gear washers and dryers, hand tools, hazardous gas meters, and more.
The flexibility of the program gives departments the opportunity to make purchases based on their specific needs, while ensuring compliance with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) safety standards.
Rep. Driscoll has the supported the relevant legislation that promotes these efforts, recognizing the need to prioritize firefighting safety. Through this program, Milton and Randolph join over 300 municipalities in the Commonwealth to purchase and upgrade necessary equipment to better protect our firefighters.
