Statement from Representative William Driscoll, Jr.
BOSTON (02/25/2021) – Representative William Driscoll, Jr. (D-Milton), House Chair of the Joint Committee on Covid-19 and Emergency Preparedness and Management, released the following statement after the committee’s first oversight hearing:
“Today, the Joint Committee on Covid-19 and Emergency Preparedness and Management held a six-hour oversight hearing on the state’s vaccine rollout. We were able to gain better insight into the state’s planning efforts and the causes of the many issues that have disrupted the rollout, making it difficult for eligible residents to access the vaccines. But there are clearly many more unanswered questions and a troubling tendency to promote rosy statistics that belie the daily frustrations and anxieties felt by residents of the Commonwealth.
“I am encouraged by the participation of so many public officials, health experts, and community leaders in today’s hearing, and their commitment to help make this vaccination operation a success. We have a lot of work to do to restore the confidence of Massachusetts residents in their government’s ability to execute this historic undertaking, but the House of Representatives remains committed to being a constructive partner during this process.”
